HBS X-TOUCH 300 surgical diathermy
The HBS 300 Argon Biseal Diathermy of the x-touch series is an electrical device used in cardiosurgery. High frequency alternating current, on the way through human tissues, concentrates on the electrodes, producing a large amount of heat. This phenomenon is used in cutting or coagulating tissues. It’s a bloodless, non very invasive operating method, which enables quick wound healing. A user-friendly touch screen, as well as the possibility to operate in argon shield, provide high standards of hygiene and safety.
The aim of the project was to re-design the simple, metal casing. As it was the fourth project concerning the surgical diathermy carried out by our team, the designers aimed at using previous experience in order to create a highly functional unit. The HBS can be placed on a medical trolley, dedicated by the producer or on the surgical column in the operating theatre. The clear, well-legible screen ensures optimal reading of the work parameters in every situation. Thanks to the tray, cable handles, overhang and effective water channelling, the casing provides a higher level of safety and helps to organise and order the workplace. Disposable accessories necessary during a surgery can be stores in the tray and the transportation handle can be used for mounting additional devices needed during the surgery, e.g. a flow pump (volumetric).
The centre of gravity was designed in a way which makes it possible to carry the unit long distances in the vertical position. Thanks to convenient handles placed on the sides of the device, it is also possible to carry it in the horizontal position, with both hands and on short distances. the casing is made of a chemoresistant material, resistant to UV and impacts.
